The newest schools in Mecklenburg County

On September 12, 2022, Mecklenburg Middle School and Mecklenburg High School will open their doors to students for the first time. This $100+ million project is designed to be an incredible facility to serve secondary students from all over the county.

Previously, students living in the Chase City area would attend Bluestone Middle School and Bluestone High School, both located in Skipwith to serve the needs of the western half of the county. The new facility will centralize secondary education in the county, leading to more benefits for all.

Located on a prominent knoll just off US 58 in Baskerville, the complex will be unlike anything this county and region has seen. The new facility will also allow innovative programs, including career-based academies, to help prepare students for adulthood.

I’m excited about this facility as I have a rising 6th grader and 8th grader who will be at the new Mecklenburg Middle School. I am eager for them to realize an even better education and for them to enjoy the full educational resources of the county.

If you would like to learn more, the latest update on the project from the superintendent is here.
