A similar phenomenon is occurring again: more and more people are discovering - and rediscovering - Chase City’s assets. Many have noted that Chase City:
Reminds them of a “quaint” and charming Southern small town, with the slower pace of life and warmer weather included.
Boasts a low tax rate and low cost of living, especially compared to other parts of Virginia and more urban areas to our north.
Is well situated within the region, being less than 30 minutes to bigger towns and only 1.5 hours away from two state capitals. Three well-maintained state highways provide efficient connections to multiple areas in our region and beyond.
A huge draw in our area is Buggs Island/Kerr Lake, a 50,000 acre lake with over 850 miles of shoreline less than 20 minutes away. Boaters, fisherman, and many others are drawn to our region to enjoy water activities.
Several factors have helped Chase City turn the corner and set us on a path of revitalization, including:
Major investment by Microsoft, first with their data center in Boydton, new proposed data centers in Clarksville and South Hill/La Crosse, and their recent purchase of a large tract of land immediately south of town that supposedly will feature a number of conservation and recreation elements.
Major investment by solar farms and other similar industries taking advantage of our geography and topography to contribute to more renewable resources.
A reenergized Industrial Development Authority and Chamber of Commerce, along with elected leadership, whom are committed to increasing and promoting more business and industry in and around town.
The establishment of the 27 acre Chase City Warehouse and Commercial Historic District and recognition on both the Virginia Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic Places in 2020.
As Chase City continues to grow, now is a great time to invest and live in Chase City. We need your voice and your vision as we continue to revitalize this incredible small town!
It’s certainly a great day in Chase City!
